Local Fianna Fáil Deputy Robert Troy has urged organisations to use a new inclusive community engagement guide to ensure a range of voices are considered.
Minister of State, with responsibility for Community Development, Charities and Integration, Deputy Joe O’Brien, on Wednesday (October 25 ) launched an updated version of ‘A Guide for Inclusive Community Engagement in Local Planning and Decision Making’.
Using learnings from three pilot programmes and feedback gained from the process, the new version of the guide includes additional case studies and resources to support local authorities as well as any organisations engaged in planning and decision making at a local level.
“This new guide for inclusive community engagement in local planning and decision making is hugely important. It’s designed to help local organisations ensure that all voices are considered and that marginalised and disadvantaged communities have real opportunities to be heard in local planning and decision-making processes.
“I would encourage all those involved in local organisations to embed this guide in your work,” Deputy Troy said.
