The sale of over eight properties, primely located on Chapel Street on the west side of Athlone, has been secured by DNG Begley estate agents.
The new owners intend to renovate the properties and offer them to the rental market.
DNG Begley commented that the sale of the Chapel Street properties is significant for a number of reasons, but primarily due to the shortage of rental units within the local market at present.
“The renovation of these properties will increase the number of rental properties available in Athlone which is badly needed. From an economic perspective, it will create work for local contractors, tradespeople and the purchase of local goods and services will have a positive impact.
“Furthermore, the renovation will improve the appearance of the street and potentially increase property values in the surrounding area, while the fact that investors are interested in Athlone is a positive sign for the town’s economy and future growth,” a DNG Begley spokesperson stated.
