Ceol agus criac was the prevalent theme during Culture Night in St Kieran’s Community Centre

This past Friday night saw the best of cultural events taking place in Athlone and the wider Midlands region, the local Pop up Gaeltacht, together with their friends and supporters, hosting an evening of traditional Irish music and dance in St Kieran’s Community Centre.

Tom Shine commenced proceedings with set dancing that saw those who had previously never heard of the ‘Siege of Ennis’ have a mastery of it by the end of the night. Local traditional group, Na Badoiri also provided some wonderful sounds, and the ‘cupla focal’ was also encouraged throughout the night.

The event was attended by a wide mix of people from all walks of life and ultimately realised a wonderful evening of craic agus ceol!
