Athlone gardaí have confirmed this week that they are no longer treating as suspicious the death of a man in the early hours of Friday morning.
The body of the male, in his 40s, was found on a boat in the Athlone Marina, but upon the release of post mortem results, gardaí have now stated that they are treating the death as 'not suspicious'.
Initially described as an "unexplained death", the scene at Athlone Marina was preserved awaiting the results of a post-mortem.
The body of the man was later removed from the scene before being brought to the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore, where a post mortem examination took place over the weekend.
