Westmeath GAA has confirmed this week that Joe Fortune will remain in charge of the county's senior hurling team for the 2024 league and championship campaigns, his third successive year at the managerial helm.

While Westmeath will compete in the Joe McDonagh competition in 2024, Fortune was the architect of arguably Westmeath's most famous hurling result when the Lake County defeated Wexford in the Leinster senior hurling championship in May.

Unfortunately, such an outcome could not be replicated in their closing championship encounter with Antrim, a 14 point loss demoting Westmeath to the championship second tier competition in 2024.

Fortune's reappointment will maintain management stablility for the league and championship campaigns to come, as the quest begins for a swift return to the higher echelons of intercounty senior hurling.
