Choice in the popular and competitive one-tonne panel van segment has increased a notch with the arrival of the new-to-Ireland Mercedes-Benz Citan.
Aimed largely at urban delivery services, small business, trades and repair specialists, Citan is priced from €23,245 (ex VAT ). Its 2.9 cubic metres load area – large enough for two Euro pallets – is accessible via twin rear-opening doors with the option of side sliding doors as required.
An array of safety and driver assistance elements includes Mercedes-Benz’s own MBUX infotainment and driver assistance feature drawn from other models in their passenger car range.
Available initially in standard wheelbase, it comes powered by a 4-cylinder, 1.5-litre turbodiesel engine in two power ratings, with versions soon to follow that include an all-electric eCitan and a longer wheelbase version.
