The Kia EV9 will go on sale here in November and will be their first three-row fully-electric SUV and new flagship model.
With pricing set to be announced closer to launch, the Kia EV9 will be available as a six or seven-seater, and is said by Kia to combine bold styling, premium versatility, multifaceted connectivity and a promised possible driving range of up to 541 kilometres (WLTP ).
The Kia EV9 will be offered with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Both versions come with a 99.8kW battery featuring Kia’s fourth-generation battery technology.
The rear-wheel drive version has a 150kW motor which is capable of a maximum torque output of 350 Nm and a top speed of 185km/h. 0-100kmh is said to be 9.4 seconds.
The all-wheel drive variation is powered by twin 141kW electric motors with maximum torque of 250 Nm & 350 Nm for the Baseline and 350 Nm & 350 Nm for the GT-line, front and rear. Top speed is 200km/h, while its maximum driving range is just shy of 500km (WLTP ).
Built on Kia’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP ), the EV9’s long wheelbase and completely flat electric vehicle architecture provide generous space for all occupants, according to Kia, with lounge-style comfort in all three rows of seats.
When the vehicle is stationary, owners can choose between relaxation or swivel function for the second-row seats, which can be turned around to face the third row.
Leather alternatives and materials made from recycled plastics also mark an important shift for the brand towards more sustainable interiors.
The aforementioned claimed driving range of up to 541 kilometres (RWD version ) is said to be complemented by ultra-fast charging that can add up to 239km of driving range in as little as 15 minutes.
The EV9 is also equipped with bi-directional charging, meaning not only can customers charge their EV using a wallbox or public charging point, but they can also use the power stored in the EV battery to power electronic appliances.
Kia says the EV9 is its first vehicle that can be upgraded via the Kia Connect store, enabling customers to update and personalise their vehicle with the features they want.
The Kia EV9 offers 828 litres of boot space when 4/5 seats are upright and up to 333 litres when 6/7 seats are facing upright. There is also an additional storage space at the front of the vehicle, which is 90 litres in the RWD variation and 52 litres in the AWD version.
Meanwhile, infotainment is described by Kia as refined with the best layout and graphics to enhance usability. It consists of a 12.3-inch cluster in front of the driver, a 12.3-inch AVNT screen and a 5.1-inch applied climate system for seat and heating information, and a Head-Up Display (HUD ) for added convenience.
Bluetooth multi-connection, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are all as standard.
