To anyone that knows me, it is no secret that the latest Range Rover Sport is one of my favourite cars.

Now Range Rover boasts that its new Sport SV is the most powerful and dynamic Range Rover Sport ever, blending supreme performance and dynamism with peerless Range Rover capability, refinement and reductive design.

I’m not so sure I like the exclusivity offering where-by for the first year of production the new Range Rover Sport SV is only available for select clients to order by invitation, in limited edition ‘SV Edition One’ specification.

Range Rover adds that its array of performance-enhancing technologies in the new SV includes the most advanced suspension system (see below ) in its class and a sensory audio system with wellness benefits.

An airflow-honed exterior includes re-profiled front-end and lower body sides, carbon fibre bonnet and quad tailpipe finishers.

Range Rover says that its modern luxury performance champion takes its place at the pinnacle of a refreshed Range Rover Sport line-up, driving sporting attitude, dynamic ability and assertive presence to the next level. That is taking self-praise to a high level indeed.

Inherent to the high-performance capabilities of the new Range Rover Sport SV are the base credentials in the new Sport range, which reinforce the basics of its high-performance ambitions.

The new SV is powered exclusively by a new 635PS, 750Nm 4.4-litre Twin-Turbo MHEV V8 petrol engine – 60PS and 50Nm more than the previous generation Range Rover Sport SVR’s Supercharged 5.0-litre V8. That is enough to send shivers down the backs of most environmentalists. However, CO2 emissions are 15 per cent lower than the previous model’s 575PS V8.

The new Range Rover Sport SV is capable of accelerating from 0-60mph (that’s 96.56 km/h ) in as little as 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 180mph (nearly 290 km/h ).

Some world firsts and technical advancements

The new Range Rover Sport SV features a world first hydraulic interlinked 6D Dynamics air suspension (mentioned earlier ) with pitch and roll control maintains a near-level stance during extreme acceleration, braking and cornering.

It also features a world first 23-inch carbon fibre wheel option that contributes to 76kg total weight saving, which Range Rover claims minimises un-sprung mass, improving handling, acceleration and ride quality.

Stopping power too is key Range Rover first fitted with lighter weight and powerful Brembo carbon ceramic brakes option, with exclusive eight-piston SV calipers for outstanding braking performance.

Coming in 2024

Range Rover tells us that the SV performance halo leads to updates across the Sport family, including new 550PS plug-in electric hybrid and the latest Pivi Pro4 infotainment.
