Local woman retires from council post after decades of dedicated service

Local woman, Yvonne Dooner, has retired from Westmeath County Council, following 41 years of dedicated service.

Yvonne was well known to numerous personnel given her decades of service in Athlone Urban District Council, Athlone Town Council and now Athlone Moate Municipal District.

Speaking upon her retirement, Cathaoirleach, Westmeath County Council, Cllr O’Rourke, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Yvonne and wished her every good health for the future.

“On my behalf and that of my elected colleagues and indeed on behalf of the thousands of people Yvonne supported down through the years, I want to say a big thank you to Yvonne for her commitment and professionalism for so many years.

“Yvonne will be a huge loss to the council. She is extremely well respected by management and staff alike. Yvonne is much loved and admired by her colleagues, it will take some time to get used to not having Yvonne around the office. However, she has promised to stay in touch on a regular basis. We all wish Yvonne a long, healthy and happy retirement,” Cllr O’Rourke stated.
