This May, as part of the Bealtaine Festival, author and poet Gerry Boland will host a series of writing workshops at Roscommon Arts Centre.
This new series of writing workshops will explore poetry, short fiction and memoir. Poems and prose extracts, selected by Gerry, will be read and analysed in group discussion. A fourth session will consider how music in its many forms can be used as inspiration for writing. On the final workshop, Gerry will present a formal reading from his latest book ALL THAT JAZZ which is his third poetry collection.
The workshops are designed for writers at all stages of their writing practice, including ‘beginner’ writers. At each session, participants will be given time to write, based on prompts provided. Gerry has wide experience of leading writing workshops in poetry, short fiction and memoir. He was writer-in-residence with Roscommon County Council in 2013 and again in 2014.
The workshops take place on Saturday Mornings in May in the Arts Centre workshop space from 11am–1pm and are €10 each. Spaces are limited, book now via box office on 09066 25824.
These workshops are presented as part of the Age & Opportunity Bealtaine Festival, Ireland’s national celebration of the arts and creativity as we age.
