Recently, the Volkswagen’s award-winning ID.4 has become Ireland’s best-selling electric vehicle of all time.
This battery-powered SUV has achieved this milestone despite being on sale for just two years. Volkswagen Ireland boasts that it has sold nearly 6,000 ID.4s here. ID.4 has been Ireland’s most popular EV since going on sale in 2021.
It adds that it is also the country’s BEV leader in 2023, accounting for more than one in five electric vehicles registered here. And that the all-electric ID.4 SUV is best-selling electric vehicle of the year to date, with sales up a massive 134 per cent on this time last year. It had a massive16 per cent of total EV market share in recent published figures.
First introduced here in March 2021, the ID.4 became the best-selling Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV ) in its first year on sale and has remained at the top of the sales charts ever since.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen Ireland claims that their passenger cars brand is well on course to becoming Ireland’s undisputed BEV leader for the third year running, commanding a 22 per cent market share in the first quarter of 2023.
Volkswagen’s ID. Family first came to Ireland in 2020 with the introduction of the ID.3. The ID.4 became the second model in the ID. line up when it was launched here in March 2021.
The growing ID. Family also includes the design-focused ID.5 Coupe SUV and the Irish Car of the Year winning ID. Buzz. It is set to expand further this year with the launch of the brand new ID.7 saloon, which arrives here in the winter promising stunning contemporary looks, state-of-the art infotainment and a 700km WLTP electric range.
