Skelly’s Bar in Ballymahon will be the place to be on Saturday night June 13. This is the venue for a big fundraiser night in aid of the Friedreichs Ataxia Society of Ireland (FASI ).
Friedreichs Ataxia is a rare genetic and progressive disorder of the central nervous system which usually manifests itself in children between the ages of six and 16. Local lads Michael Delaney and Barney Mulvihill are competing in this year’s Athlone triathlon which takes place on July 18 and have chosen the Friedreichs Ataxia Society of Ireland to be the beneficiary of all funds raised.
They hope to raise funds while also increasing awareness of this rare condition. The best of musical talent have given up their time to play including: Lilac Blues (as seen on the All Ireland Talent show ); Veronica Moran (recent winner of Longford’s got talent ); Felix Sonnyboy Wilson (from America ); and Arrow in the Sky (from Mullingar ) as well as local DJs. There will also be excellent spot prizes on the night sponsored by local businesses. Entry to the event is free with donations accepted on the night.
Anyone who can’t make the event but would like to help the fundraiser can do so online at www.barmicktri09.com Also anyone wishing to find out more about Friedreichs Ataxia and its condition can log onto www.ataxia.ie
All support for this great cause will be greatly appreciated.
