As the Westmeath senior football team continue their preparations for their Leinster quarter final contest with Louth, it has been confirmed that the fixture will take place in Pairc Tailteann, Navan, on Sunday, April 23, with a 2pm throw in.
Westmeath will be hoping to put aside the disappointment of failing to earn promotion following the conclusion of their Allianz National Football League Division 3 campaign, but face a stern test from Louth, who, under the managerial guidance, of Mickey Harte, were just one win from achieving a Division 1 berth for the 2024 season.
Westmeath will start the game in ‘underdogs’ mode, such a tag certain to suit Dessie Dolan’s charges as they aim to advance to the provincial semi-final stage and a meeting with either Offaly and Meath, a tie which will take place on Sunday, April 30.
Courtesy of their Tailteann Cup success in 2022, the Lake County are assured of their place in the round robin phase of this year’s All-Ireland series, so much to look forward to for management and players as the championship season fast progresses during the spring and summer months.
