There has been an overwhelming response to Sunday evening’s episode of DIY SOS:The Big Build Ireland in which the home of Assumption Road resident, Pa Berry, his partner Nicky, and three children, was renovated by members of the popular programme’s team and local community volunteers.
A member of the fire service, Pa was critically injured in the line of duty when he attended a house fire in Mount Temple in early 2022. Out of work and looking towards a long and arduous road to recovery, the team of volunteers visited the firefighter’s Assumption Road home, his residence in much need of renovation to make it safe and secure for his partner Nicky and their three young children.
The couple had been patching their home together on an occasional basis since they moved in to the property seven years ago, so the DIY SOS team arrived to complete the transformation project, just in time for Pa to commence his long road to recovery, and for Nicky to be able to think about her own future, and not just about being Pa’s 24/7 carer.
