As the culmination to the five day Croí na hÉireann Festival approaches on Sunday, event organisers have confirmed this week that Operation Transformation participant Marie Clear will take part in the St Patrick’s Day parade.
Confirming the news this week, Festival treasurer, Cllr Frankie Keena, stated that the committee were “thrilled” to host the Operation Transformation television programme participant in the showpiece occasion on Sunday afternoon.
“Marie won the hearts of the nation through her episodes of the Operational Transformation programme which was aired on RTE. The Cashel woman has been described on social media as ‘’inspirational’’ with a lovely warm personality.
“I had the pleasure of meeting Marie recently at the Athlone Regional Sports Centre where she took the lead in a walk alongside the Athlone IWA and St Hilda’s groups around the park. Her motivation skills in encouraging people to keep active is fantastic and I fully commend her on her love to help people.
“It is so important that we all get behind Marie and give her a warm welcome to Athlone. We are looking for people who will walk in the parade with Marie to give her support, but also to help spread the message of the importance of keeping active for one’s own health.
“Please feel free to contact me on 085 7474074 if you would like to walk with Marie in the parade. There will be a cap on the numbers interested so contact me as soon as possible,” Cllr Keena stated.
