All new Nissan Townstar electric van

The all-new electric Nissan Townstar van is on the way to the Irish market later this year.

It promises a class-leading range of 295 kilometres WLTP combined, or a claimed up to 433 kilometres on the city cycle. This is possible due to a new electric powertrain that Nissan says is optimised with intelligent energy management and battery thermal cooling, which may be standard here.

Nissan says that it delivers 122 PS and 245Nm of torque, the Townstar EV’s 45kWh battery offers both AC charging (11 kW or 22 kW ) or DC CCS quick-charging, the latter of which enables users to charge the battery from 15 per cent to 80 per cent in as little as 37 minutes.

The all-new Townstar is the latest addition to Nissan’s electrified line-up and the Japanese brand says it provides an efficient mobility solution to help customers adapt to changing emissions regulations, increased urbanisation and the growth of e-commerce.

The Townstar EV takes over from the pioneering e-NV200. It features an efficient and aerodynamic design with fresh and distinctive styling.

Inside, Nissan claims that the Townstar EV puts customer satisfaction and ergonomics at the forefront. Boasting more than a potential 20 technology features, the Townstar EV represents the most advanced van in Nissan’s current LCV line-up.

Depending on the specifications, which haven’t been announced for the Irish market yet, a payload of between 600 and 800kg and towing capacity of up to 1,500kg is possible. The Townstar EV can also offers between 3.3 to 4.3 cubic metres of cargo carrying capacity - enough to carry two Euro pallets starting from the short wheelbase version.

Again subject to specifications being announce here, there is an impressive array of available active and passive safety technologies possible. The 100 percent electric Townstar could also see the introduction of Nissan’s ProPILOT Assist, which would bring their advanced driving assistance system to the LCV line-up.

The Townstar will have the 8 year battery warranty here. This is the same battery warranty which is offer on all Nissan EV’s.

Nicolas Tschann, LCV Director, Nissan Europe, said: “Our electrification expertise and leadership in this segment has been a critical component in the development of this version of the Townstar. We’re confident that its high level of advanced safety features, versatile configurations and practical capabilities suit the future of sustainable business operations.”
