Unlucky for some, but the number 13 proved momentous for former Buccaneer Jack Carty, his points haul in Connacht’s URC victory over the Lions this past weekend securing his berth in the annals of provincial scoring history.

One penalty and five conversions over the duration of Connacht’s 19 point victory at the Sportsground on Saturday ensured Carty’s place in history, the Athlone man overtaking Eric Elwood’s haul of 1152 points.

Connacht kept their hopes of a knockout place in the URC alive with this deserved bonus point victory and Carty will be hoping to add to his record points scoring haul when the province play their next URC fixture against Zebre Parma in the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi on Saturday, February 18.
