June date confirmed for Athlone Show in 2023 as committee officers elected at AGM

The Athlone Show will take place on Michael Donoghue’s farm on Sunday, June 18, it was has been confirmed.

Addressing the recently hosted AGM, chairperson, Cllr John Dolan noted the “tremendous success” of the Athlone Show in 2022, stating that the new site proved a popular location for the occasion.

“It was the first show since 2019 on a great new site in Michael Donoghue’s farm and through the support of a brilliant committee, a great occasion was enjoyed by those who came to the show on the day,” Cllr Dolan stated.

Secretary Padraig Higgins provided his report on the year’s activities and meetings and this was followed by John McCann with the treasurer’s report.

The election of officers was chaired by David Fenton, the Athlone Show committee for 2023 being Chairperson John Dolan, Vice Chairman PJ Coghill, Secretary Padraig Higgins, Treasurers John McCann and Michael Donoghue and Child protection Martin Monaghan, Health and safety John Henson.

The chairperson thanked the meeting for re-electing the outgoing officers and said that the show will endeavour to improve on last year with the inclusion of cattle classes once again.
