Youth Work Ireland (YWI ) Midlands hosted a very successful Christmas Card competition in recent times with representatives from all affiliated rural youth clubs and projects in counties Westmeath, Offaly and Roscommon submitting entries.
This year as expected, the number of entries received was extremely high and the response in the aged 10 and under and aged 13 and under categories was vast. The entries were judged on Monday, December 19, the adjudicators spending a lot of time deciding on the winners with some very difficult decisions to make.
Affiliated youth clubs and projects that entered the competition include Athlone Youth Project (AYP ), ALF Project, Athlone, Ballymore Youth Club, Emerald Lakes, Rochfortbridge, St Mary’s Youth and Community Centre, Tullamore, St Ciarán’s Youth Club, Clonmacnois and Acron Project, Edenderry.
Finally, a special word of thanks to all the young people aged between eight and 16 years who competed in the competition. Without their hard work in making the cards, there would be no competition. Appreciation must also go to the youth workers, volunteers and parents who encouraged the young people and who did enormous work behind the scenes. A final thank you must go to Eileen McArdle and Faustina Monaghan who organised and promoted the competition on behalf of Youth Work Ireland Midlands.
The Board of Management and staff of Youth Work Ireland Midlands would like to take this opportunity to wish all our young people, volunteers and patrons a very Happy Christmas and every good wish for 2023.
