Following the success of its inaugural Christmas market last year, Ballinahown Community Development will once again hold an outdoor market on Wednesday, December 21.
The community carpark will be transformed into a winter wonderland for the occasion, with the market running from 5pm until 8pm.
The outdoor event promises something for all ages, with plenty of last minute gifts available and a wide range of treats to enjoy on the night or to take home with you.
Ballinahown Community Development will be selling Christmas in Ballinahown mugs by Shannonbridge Pottery and the Ballinahown Community Calendar, featuring photographs taken by members of the community for a photography competition earlier this year.
The market will host a number of local artists and craftspeople and some of the items available on the night will include: art prints and pendants by Anna Boles; birdboxes and reindeer by Moate Men’s Shed; Christmas wreaths, window boxes, grave arrangements and holly by Eugene Donoghoe; bespoke local woodturning products by Aidan Duffy; wood kindling by Andrew McEvoy and local wildlife art by Dominic O’Brien.
Local school children have produced handmade reindeer for sale at the market and other crafts available for purchase include handmade clothes for adults, children and pets by Bella Boo Clothing; handmade fabric wreaths and table runners by Eithne Naughton; a selections of handmade patchwork cot quilts, cushions, table runners, placemats and aprons by Marian O’Brien and handmade soft toys by Patricia Burke.
Foodies will not be disappointed with a range of hot and cold food and drinks available on the night, including BBQ by Meadow and Green; mulled wine and festive treats by The Village Inn; pancakes by Fresh French Crepes; tea and coffee by The Pantry Moate and Clann Coffee; baked goods by Kellie Gannon; Christmas Eve treat boxes and sweets by Tara Daly; jams, jellies, marmalades and chutneys by Scott Jams and fresh vegetables from Mooney’s Fruit & Veg.
There will also be facepainting, children’s activities and games on the evening and of course a special visit from Santa Claus himself. The market takes place from 5pm until 8pm on Wednesday, December 21, in Ballinahown community car park so be sure to put this important community date in your diary.
Parking will be available in the church grounds and at the school and stewards will assist with directing people to available parking spots on the night.
