The popular ‘Plumbers’ playing group held their final outing of the year at Athlone Golf on Saturday last with a very good turnout for the their invitational fourball which marks the end of their golfing year.

All remaining prizes were presented at a very enjoyable dinner in the clubhouse after play. Well done to the organisers on reviving a very important part of the club’s structure which helps to integrate new members into the social fabric of the club.

Following the invitational fourball, John Fagan was announced as the ‘Plumber of the Year’.

The ‘97 Club Christmas party made a welcome return after two years of restrictions. Piotr had hot food, Christmas pudding and mince pies to refresh all the women golfers on Thursday last. All those participating received a prize with Anne O’Sullivan beating Kathleen McDonnell on the back nine to win the ‘97 Club Christmas Hamper. The weather was dry and pleasant and it was a most enjoyable Christmas Outing for all ‘97 Club members.

Care of Greens

Members are asked to repair pitch marks on the greens as they play as unattended pitch marks will cause untold damage to our excellent greens. Pitch mark repairers are stocked in the golf shop.
