Dún na Sí Amenity & Heritage Park hosts biodiversity workshops

Dún na Sí Amenity & Heritage Park in Moate hosted six biodiversity workshops for local schools in recent times.

The workshops were conducted by local ecologist George Smith from Blackthorn Ecology. George provided great insight into the importance and biodiversity of the turlough at Dún na Sí Heritage Park. He also educated the students about the surrounding flora and the wildlife in the area.

Those schools in attendance included sixth class pupils from St Oliver Plunkett Boys National School, sixth class pupils from St Brigids National School, fifth class pupils from An Grianan National School, fifth and sixth class pupils from Castledaly National School, sixth class pupils from Tubber National School and tansition year students from Moate Community School.

Dún na Sí Amenity & Heritage Park would like to thank the Community Water Development Fund who funded these workshops.

A huge thank you to all the schools who took part and especially to George Smith who delivered such an informative and hands-on workshop!
