Southern Gaels Under 19 hurlers prepare for semi-final fixture this weekend

The Southern Gaels Under 19 hurling squad and management are due to play St Oliver Plunketts in the Division Two semi-finals this coming weekend, the game being fixed for Monday, October 31, a home tie for Gaels.

Should they win they would play the winners of the other semi-final between Fr Daltons and St Vincent’ in the final. Gaels defeated all three in the round robin series and are hopeful of capturing the title.

Junior B

The semi-finals of the Junior B competition are due in early November, Southern Gaels facing either Ringtown or Crookedwood in the semi-final. They last won this title in 2015 and are hopeful of capturing it again.

Camogie

Adult camogie training continues weekly with good numbers. The club will enter a team next year in the Westmeath Junior championship. In addition, two underage teams will be entered at Under 8 and Under 10 levels. Those interested in camogie can visit the club’s website www.southerngaels.ie and follow the link.

The Bower Secondary school have entered camogie teams at senior and junior levels in schools’ competitions for the first time ever. They won their first camogie game, on their first outing, when their junior side easily accounted for Tyndall College from Carlow. Congratulations to all the girls and their management of Karina Jones and Dermot Fitzgerald.
