Athlone Musical Society is excited to announce auditions for their 2023 production of Chess will take place at The Bounty Bar Athlone on Friday, October 7, from7pm. Auditions are open to all - however, you must be at least 18 years old.
Alfie Kilduff will direct the production that contains music by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, of international pop music legends ABBA, and lyrics by Tim Rice. Musical Direction will be by Ger Madden and Choreography will be by Jay Molyneux.
The story revolves around the romantic triangle that develops when an American chess champion and his lover travel to Europe to defend his title against a Russian opponent who secretly plans to defect to the West.
Chess will run from Friday, March 3 to Sunday, March 5 2023, and from Wednesday, March 8 until Saturday, March 11 2023. Rehearsals will commence on October 13.
Scripts will be available on the night for those who wish to read for a part, or you can audition solely for chorus.
The Society requests that you register in advance if you wish to audition. The link for registration can be found on the Athlone Musical Society Facebook or Instagram pages, where you will also find a link with information on the cast and a show synopsis.
