Prominent national sports photographer to address Athlone Photography Club

Professional sports/press photographer, Eóin Noonan, will address the next sitting of the Athlone Photography Club, on Wednesday, September 28, at 7.45pm.

The club’s successful relaunch this September saw the full line up for the year announced. This talk will take place in the Abbey Road Artists Studio (close to the Radisson Blu Hotel ), Athlone.

Advanced club member, Sean Ganly, recently gave a compact landscape presentation in advance of the club’s Connemara field trip the following Sunday. The club, excited to open its doors again and welcome people back in person, are excited to welcome back Eóin Noonan to the club.

Eóin was the club’s first external, professional speaker on Zoom in 2020 when the country was in its first lockdown. Eóin works with Sportsfile and over the years, has been on the shortlist in the Press Photographers Association of Ireland (PPAI ) for Sports Action and Non-Action categories, finally being placed 1st in 2022.

He took first place in the Sports Action section with a now famous shot, ‘HANDLE WITH CARE’ and claimed the premier accolade in the Sports Feature category for his shot titled ‘BRILLIANT BOHS ‘ capturing Bohemians’ Keith Ward celebrate his side’s first goal, scored by Rory Feely, during the Extra.ie FAI Cup Final between Bohemians and St Patrick’s Athletic at the Aviva Stadium Dublin. He also received a special merit award in the 2022 World Sports Photography awards with the same shot.
