‘Ann’s Pub’, the award winning 26-minute documentary by Swiss filmmaker Thabea Furrer, which was filmed at Flannerys, the landmark Sean Costello Street premises between 2017 and 2019, will be screened at the prestigious BNP Paribas Two Riversides Film and Art Festival.
The documentary film, which was an award-winner at the Basel Film and Media Art Awards November 2021, will showcase at the renowned festival to take place from July 30 to August 7.
Ann’s Pub had its Irish premiere in April when it played to a capacity auditorium in Athlone Little Theatre.
The documentary films is one of 20 productions selected from entries submitted to broadcast during the imminent festival.
The festival is popular among filmmakers, highlighting work from both international and Poland directors, the award winers being announced at its closing ceremony.
In describing the documentary film on the official festival website, Ann’s Pub notes that the proprietor of the pub, Ann Flannery, “spends her life behind the counter of a pub in an Irish town. But who is she really?”
