Taking place across five days this week, the inaugural Galway Folk Festival has revealed a full line-up of exciting ticketed shows, free music trails and panel talks ahead of its June 15 opening.
Bringing some of the finest names in contemporary Irish folk music to the City of the Tribes this weekend, Galway Folk Festival promises to have something for everyone.
Joining headliners Andy Irvine and Donal Lunny, Hothouse Flowers, Villagers, Séan Keane, The Henry Girls and John Francis Flynn is an exciting array of events across Galway city.
Starting today, Thursday, June 16, come check out the Late Night Festival Club in Monroes. Starting at 1am with a €10 entry fee come see performances by Cian Finn on Thursday, June 16, One Horse Pony on Friday, June 17 and Rowan on Saturday, June 18.
Join Culture Vultures - In Conversation with Tony Clayton-Lea on Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19, from 5pm where he speaks with Fiachna Ó Braonáin, The Henry Girls, Seba Safe, A. Smyth, Clare Sands, and Aoife Scott.
Check out the Dominick Street Pub Trail on Saturday and Sunday (June 18/19 ) featuring acts Rowan, One Horse Pony, Aoife Scott, Paddy Dennedy, George Murphy, Les SalAmandas, Sonny Casey, and Clare Sands.
Meanwhile, the Cuppa Tea TV Stage on Saturday and Sunday (June 18/19 ) will showcase acts such as Cyril O'Donoghue & Blackie O'Connell, Katie Theasby, Sonny Casey, Ger O'Donnell and Trevor Sexton, The Davies Brothers, and Dunluvly from 2pm.
Early risers are in for a treat with the Galway Jam circle, starting at 12pm Saturday and Sunday (June 18/19 ) at the Spanish Arch. Saturday afternoon will have two exciting events in the shape of the Pop-Up Show at the PorterShed starting at 2pm and Youth in Cafe Stage at the Bell, Book and Candle starting at 5pm.
Headline shows with Andy Irvine and Donal Lunny, Hothouse Flowers, Villagers, Séan Keane, The Henry Girls and John Francis Flynn will take place across four stages in Monroes. Some of the superb artists also announced for Galway Folk Festival are Peter Broderick, The Frank & Walters (acoustic ), Emma Langford, BRÍDÍN, The Raines, Zoë Conway and John McIntyre.

As well as established Irish artists, Galway Folk Festival is set to shine a spotlight on some of the country’s most exciting emerging talent, as this summer’s programme is bolstered by the likes of Lorraine Nash, Robert John Ardiff, I Draw Slow, A Smyth, Aoife Scott, Stevie Appleby, Laura Duff, Woven Kin, Seba Safe, Sonny Casey, King Pallas and Les SalAmandas.
