Toyota will add a new large van to its range in 2024, expanding its partnership with Stellantis, which began in 2012.
The yet-to-be-named new large van will mark Toyota’s first entry into the large-size commercial vehicle segment, and the new model will be added to its existing Stellantis-derived Proace City and Proace models.
As expected, it will be built alongside the next-generation Citroen Relay, Fiat Ducato,, Opel Movano and Peugeot Boxer, due in mid-2024.
As with all of the above, an electric version of the new large van will also be available, according to Toyota.
All of those new large van arrivals will be built at Stellantis plants in Poland and Italy.
This latest agreement builds on the relationship that is in place now for 10 years. It continues to allow Toyota to complete a full LCV line-up in Europe, without the massive development costs involved.
So what’s in this for Stellantis? With the development work all in place, it allows the company to benefit from that work and scale up the production with resulting lower costs, to optimise profits.
