TUBBERCLAIR 1-6
MAOTE ALL WHITES 0-8
Tubberclair U17s claimed Division 1 league success with a narrow victory over close rivals, Moate All Whites, in an eagerly contested final played on Sunday evening last.
Struggling to find rhythm and form in the opening half of the showpiece fixture, Tubberclair emerged a different team in the second period and reeled in the four point half time deficit, the players’ character testament to the resilience displayed during the round robin phase of the competition.
This resilience and will to win was clearly evident as the final progressed, Tubberclair achieving scoreboard ascendancy by the minimum come the shrill of the full time whistle.
A rewarding league campaign which was complemented by the managerial input of Daniel Sammon, TJ Reid, Kevin Connaughton and Brendan Connell, while the support for this team must be also acknowledged.
The playing squad have had a fantastic league campaign, especially without injured players, Finn Duffy and Liam Staunton now head into the championship with renewed confidence and vigour, but also acutely aware that the hard work on the training ground must continue, as many difficult challenges lie ahead.
