Captain’s Drive In takes pride of place at Athlone Golf Club

After a very successful 18 holes scramble competition in the morning, Lady Captain Frances McGettigan and Men’s Captain Thomas O’Connor both drove successfully into office on a cold but dry Sunday afternoon.

Despite some rain in the morning a large crowd of players competed and stayed on to watch the two Captains drive off the first tee. We wish both Captains a very successful year and hopefully we will see some silverware during their year of office.

The winning team was Anne O’Sullivan, Aidan McGowan, Kevin Ryan and Michael Lennon.

Successful Table Quiz

An octopus has three hearts. True or False. Well! That was one of the true or false questions asked at the Club Table Quiz last week.

With over 25 tables taking part, the night was most enjoyable and a great success. It was uplifting to hear conversation and laughter reverberating around the Club once again after the last two years of quietness and solitude.

In the raffle at the interval, over €1000 was raised for relief in Ukraine. Special thanks to Yvonne Walsh, Margaret Egan and their team of helpers for a great night’s entertainment.
