Wineport Lodge is top for service

Adding to an already impressive list of accolades, the Wineport Lodge has again been recognised as a leader in its field.

When it comes to service, it appears the Glasson hotel cannot be beaten, picking up the gong for ‘Best Customer Service’ in the Leinster region at the recent 2009 Irish Restaurant Awards.

Its partner hotel, Lisloughrey Lodge in Cong, Co Mayo, scooped up the equivalent award for the Connaught region.

The Irish Restaurant Awards, sponsored by Santa Rita and Life Magazine, took place on Wednesday May 13 in the Burlington Hotel Dublin.

The nominees are voted for by readers of the Sunday Independent Life Magazine and Restaurants Association of Ireland members, and are then assessed by the Irish Restaurant Awards Academy who are a group of food writers and experienced practitioners within the industry, who make the final decision.

Among the the top awards of the day were ‘Best Chef’ which went to Neven Maguire of Macnean House, Blacklion in Cavan, and ‘Best Restaurant’ which was won by Chapter One, Parnell Square, Dublin.

This year saw an array of categories for every taste and style such as best restaurant design, most creative use of seafood, best gastro pub, best ethnic restaurant, best coffee experience, best restaurant website, best practice in energy management, and best wine list.
