Monday night not to be missed at The Shack

This Monday May 25 at 8pm The Shack pub presents a free concert with Seán Lightholder, Eva Coyle, and Resurrection Fern.

Seán, no stranger to Athlone, is currently on tour with skiffle band, Mosquito Wilson, consisting of former Golden Bough bluegrass fiddler Alison Bailey and honorable mention World Bodhrán champion veteran Rob Wilson. The band's ambitious tour schedule starts Monday in The Shack and continues around the country with stops in Meath, Wicklow, Cork, Kerry, and Offaly. The band is delighted to be kicking things off in Athlone with such esteemed local talent joining them onstage - truly not a night to be missed!

Born to an Irish father and 5th-generation San Franciscan mother, Seán plays a style of music that draws from both traditions. His band will be playing songs from True Story, his lively album of original music, including the wistful ballad, ‘Leaving Athlone’. Other songs on the album take the listener from a Roscommon pub brawl to the California gold rush without missing a beat. Recorded in just 12 hours, its first run sold out in less than two weeks. A fresh run of True Story, along with a limited edition five-song Irish tour EP of Mosquito Wilson's music, will be available at the show Monday.

Eva Coyle needs no introduction. A rising star on the local scene, she gained national attention performing on The All-Ireland Talent show. Her breath-taking vocals are sure to draw a crowd on the night.

Resurrection Fern is the brainchild of talented local songwriter Bean Dolan. Accompanied by a fistful of other gifted songwriter/performers, Resurrection Fern has gained a terrific following and extensive critical acclaim with the release of their rapturous first album, Earth Rising. Their appearance this weekend is highly anticipated.
