Mount Temple native and lead singer with New York based band, Maclean Avenue, Padraig Allen, will host a live online concert on Saturday night to formally launch the switching on of the progressive community’s Christmas Lights for 2021.
“The Mount Temple Christmas Lights committee has once again organised an online entertainment show in conjunction with the switching on of this year’s lights in the village.
“The show will be graciously hosted by New York based singer Padraig Allen who originally hails from Kilenatoore. A feature of the show this year will be top class performances by some amazing local artists sitting around the fireside at Egan’s Pub,” Cllr Keena stated.
Event organiser, Tom Daly, noted that the positive response to the hosting of such an online concert in 2020 was good reason to proceed with a similar event this year as the community prepares to embrace the festive spirit.
“We were amazed by the response to our online show last year with nearly 30,000 views received so we decided to do similar this year,” Tom remarked.
Cllr Frankie Keena afforded his gratitude to the marvellous crew of volunteers who kindly give of their time every year to erect the Christmas lights throughout the village under the direction from Tom Daly.
“It is fantastic to have Padraig Allen on board once again with us from New York as his McClean Avenue Band provides a valuable link to our diaspora,” Cllr Keena commented.
The switch on takes place in Mount Temple village on Sunday evening at 5.30pm with the online show going live at 7pm.
“A great night’s entertainment is promised! Enjoy and stay safe,” Cllr Keena concluded.
