Positive start to Moate Golf Club annual winter league competition

The 2022 Seery’s Cash and Carry Winter League started positively at Moate Golf Club this past weekend with 60 cards returned in the first week.

The 2021 ‘GOTY’ winner Eamon Coughlan is already top of this qualifying table with 72 points from three rounds.

Joe Ennis and Darren Rosney are second and third with 55 points and 53 points after two rounds each.

Future Competition

Week six of the Men’s Club 13 hole turkey competition runs until Sunday, November 14. Category winners will of course bag a turkey voucher but to spread the prizes around you will be on (-2 ) next time out.

Captains Drive OUT

There will be a drive out Scramble on Sunday, November 21, at 10am and the entry sheet is now in the shop.

Winter League

For Ladies and Gents (members only ) 13 hole rounds can be played any day but you must enter in the shop as usual.

The cost is €5 for your first round and €3 for each subsequent round. Play as often as you like and your best five rounds count. The top 60 players will be divided into three handicap groups and randomly formed into 20 teams for the play off over 18 holes.

First prize will be provided by the club in the form of three x Ping 3400 drivers with our long time sponsor Seery’s Cash and Carry generously providing the second and third prizes.

Course Care

Now that the course is softening up as we enter the winter months it is more important than ever that we all take responsibility for repairing pitch marks. Every golfer should have a repairer with them.

In addition we must look after all the divots and as bags of seed/sand mix are provided at the first tee box there really is no excuse for you not to take one.

Car Park Painting Fundraiser

If you don’t fancy walking from the bottom of the car park for 2022 why not enter our fundraising raffle. The club will have two spaces reserved for the winners (beside the Trustee spots ) for the entirety of next year.

All funds raised will go towards properly marking out the full car park. As we are all aware with both the Par 3 restaurant and the course becoming ever more popular we need to maximize the usage of the space we have. Tickets are now available in the shop priced at €5 each or three for €10.

Midlands Intermediate Alliance

The first outing of the new season for the alliance is in Mullingar on Sunday, November 14, with tee times from 10-12.

Please call Paddy Coyne on 085 – 2485 177 for further details.
