Audi Athlone are continuing their title sponsorship of Buccaneers Rugby Football Club for an eleventh season.
At a function to announce their ongoing patronage of Buccs, Audi Athlone’s Dealer Principal Michael Moore Jnr stated that he “was proud to continue our long sponsorship with Buccaneers. The relationship has grown into a strong partnership over 11 years”.
Having “experienced a trying 18 months due to Covid-19 which has been difficult for clubs, businesses and the wider society”, Mr Moore believed that “as the country begins to resume everyday life it will instil more confidence in our outlook for the future.
He gave Buccaneers “credit for producing talented and great players over the years with Robbie Henshaw and Jack Carty being recent examples. Due to their success, kids’ participation in rugby has sky-rocketed which is very evident in this club”.
“This takes a lot of hard work and dedication to manage, which is clearly present here throughout every season, work that is recognised by the local community and the rest of the Irish rugby network. This is about constant and continual improvements in everything we do, not only in club rugby but in achieving our own goals in life”.
Mr Moore concluded by hoping that the club can build on past successes and he wished everyone involved a successful season.
Club President, Eamon Collins, thanked and appreciated the generous support of the Moore family. Audi Athlone have “stuck with Buccs through thick and thin” for over a decade. As somewhat normality approached, he said he was “delighted that club rugby is being played again” and duly acknowledged the work of Brendan Wilkins and Michael Cleary in “protecting us all around the club in dealing with Covid-19”. He too wished the Buccs squads all the best, stating that there “was a great feeling around the club” and he looked forward to a successful season.
Head Coach Kolo Kiripati and club Captain Evan Galvin both thanked Audi Athlone for their continued sponsorship. Kolo believed that his youthful squad has much potential that he hoped would flourish while Evan, who began playing at the club as a six-year-old, was very proud to captain his home town team.
Club Secretary, Michael Cleary, was Master of Ceremonies and he along with Michael Moore and Eamon Collins offered deepest sympathies to Michael Silke and family on the recent loss of his wife Teresa.
Buccaneers commence their Energia All-Ireland League with a home Division 2A fixture against Cahel at Dubarry Park on Saturday, kick off 2.30pm.
