Buccaneers Rugby Football Club’s mini club ‘SunBuccs’ in Cushla/Monksland began its journey on Sunday, September 19, on the superb astro turf facility. Over 60 boys and girls joined in the fun for an hour and ten minutes of activity on a beautiful sunny morning.
Many thanks to all the coaches and helpers who ensued a great new beginning primarily for kids from the west side of Athlone. Thanks also to the Roscommon Sports Partnership for their support of this innovative venture.
‘SunBuccs’ is a novel initiative by Buccaneers for any boys and girls from U8s to U12s who may be involved in other sports on a Saturday but who also wish to play rugby on a Sunday morning from 11am to 12.15pm. They could later follow in the footsteps of fellow Roscommon natives Jack Carty and Niall Murray on the rugby fields.
No previous rugby playing experience is necessary so all are welcome to come along and “give rugby a try”.
