Cllr Naughten to raise road safety concerns over Old Tuam Road

Concerns over speeding traffic and road safety along the Old Tuam Road in Monksland are to be raised by Cllr. John Naughten at the next meeting of the Athlone Municipal District of Roscommon County Council.

“I will be raising the ongoing concerns of local residents in relation to the level of speeding that is taking place on this road on a daily basis.

This is an issue that has been highlighted by Cllr. Naughten on a number of occasions and while flashing speed signs were erected at this location residents are anxious that speed ramps would also be installed.

“I will be seeking details on what measures the Council is planning to take now to address the issue of speeding and the associated road safety risks.

“This issue has been ongoing for a number of years and while some measures have been taken additional measures such as speed ramps need to be considered to address this issue,” Cllr Naughten stated.
