Dine in style in the pleasant countryside surrounds of the Shamrock Lodge Hotel

Nestled within a country setting, yet within a short stroll of the town centre, the Shamrock Lodge Hotel has been warmly welcoming guests to its westside location since 1951.

A family run hotel, the establishment, akin to many within the hospitality industry at this time, has adapted its dining offering to cater for guests in an outdoor setting which is laden with atmosphere and comfort.

This sense of family spirit simply pervades through the hotel as upon arrival, an immensely hospitable welcome awaits from Jay, our host for the evening.

Courteous and customer orientated, Jay has vast experience working within the hospitality industry and this is very much evident from the manner in which he continually interacts, ensuring my guest and I are enjoying our dining experience.

Laden with a plethora of wholesome and flavoursome options from which to choose, the Lodge Bistro menu is certain to be positively received by guests of the popular hotel.

Food choices are plentiful as my guest and I commence our tasting journey.

Starting with a perennial favourite, spicy chicken wings marinated in chef's hot sauce, my guest's taste buds are suitably satisfied as a sizeable portion, complete with celery stick and blue cheese dressing, sets the tone for what promises to be a nourishing three course meal.

I opt for cajun spiced loaded potato skins with melted cheese, bacon and sour cream - an appetising delight and savoured within moments of its table presentation.

My guest opts for a fish dish as her main course, with beer battered cod, mushy peas, tartare sauce and lemon wedge tastefully complementing the opening course.

I select the chicken burger as my main course option. Butterfly marinated and served on toasted brioche in a cajun mayonnaise with baby gem lettuce and tomato. Arguably, my preferred dish, the chicken is succulently cooked, and just oozes tender flavour. Once again, the colour on the plate is a prime feature and the cajun infusion is thoroughly noticeable as my main course suitably appetises.

Complementing the opening two courses, a vast array of tempting desserts complete the tasting journey.

My guest chooses the mini eclairs selection, the perfect manner in which to complete a three course meal as the dish provides a zest of dessert heaven.

A Ferrero Rocher flavoured cheesecake is my last course of choice. A dessert with a true nod to the summer sunshine, I most certainly have a radiant glow as I negotiate my way into foodie paradise!

A menu tasting journey worth completing is complemented by a two strong lattés!

Offering food options to include dishes from the grill, from the sea and a vegetarian corner, opting to visit the Shamrock Lodge Hotel for a sumptuous meal this summer season is most certainly the right choice and a journey worth making.

I await my imminent return with relish!
