After months of lockdown, Knock Shrine has reopened the iconic Basilica for daily mass.
In current restrictions, the maximum capacity allowed to attend mass is 200 people, in four pods of fifty. Fr Richard Gibbons, Parish Priest and Rector of Knock Shrine has welcomed the reopening.
“There is a very positive atmosphere at the Shrine. Many people have been looking forward to visiting and attending Mass once restrictions were eased and we are grateful to be able to welcome them back to this special place,” Fr Gibbons commented.
Pilgrims can attend daily mass in the Basilica at 12 noon, 3pm and 7.30pm, with Rosary at 7pm (Monday to Saturday ). Sunday Masses take place at 10am, 12 noon and 3pm, with Rosary at 2.30pm.
Those planning on visiting the Shrine can also attend confessions which is available daily in the Chapel of Reconciliation from 11am-3pm. Queueing systems are in place at all churches and public buildings in the Shrine grounds with ushers to assist pilgrims.
Free entry to Knock Museum for the 2021 season
Knock Museum has reopened to the public after more than a year-long closure due to Covid-19. To celebrate the reopening, entrance fees will be waived for the 2021 season.
There is so much to see at Knock Museum, so this year why not make a visit to the museum part of your staycation. Set in the beautiful gardens of Knock Shrine, the museum is dedicated to sharing the history, culture, traditions and stories of Knock Shrine.
A Sense of Peace
Peace has been a recurring theme at Knock over the years and visitors will often describe the great feeling of peace that they encounter in the Apparition Chapel, which is at the heart of the Shrine. Space for private prayer is available in the chapel daily from 9am to 9pm.
The parish church is also open for private prayer from 9am to 9pm daily.
