On Saturday May 23, Backstage Theatre, Longford plays host to one of the world’s best loved operas, Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, presented by the prestigious UK Opera.
Justifiably one of the all time favourites of the operatic repertoire, The Barber of Seville, sees the notorious barber, Figaro, leading the way through the many intrigues of a tangled plot. This high spirited, merry romp, also provides an audience with a string of operatic hits, set amongst the dizzying action of mischief and mayhem, while the characters all try to sort themselves out.
The hugely successful Opera UK will mount their new production along the same lines as the hits that have earned them their reputation - with an English libretto beautifully played and sung, stunning costumes, lighting and sets and a production that gives great importance to good acting and stylish staging.
