Awash with youthful enthusiasm and energy, Athlone GAA welcomed the return of 220 children to the vast green swathe of Pairc Chiarain on Sunday to participate in the club’s underage coaching programme.
Athlone GAA is operating within the HSE guidelines and therefore training is non-contact until it is safe to do so.
Chairman of Athlone GAA Coaching and Games Committee, Joe Fallon, welcomed the return and looked forward to a summer of activity at Pairc Chiarain.
“It was great to see old and new members take to the pitches on Sunday. It has been too long. I think parents, children and coaches were chomping at the bit to return to play.
“They have all had enough of Zoom coaching and kicking a ball against a wall and they have missed their teammates. The important thing is that we are back now and we are committed to continuing our training sessions in a safe and supported environment.
“We meet the recommended 1:6 coach to player ratio so the children get the attention they need,” Joe enthused.
Athlone GAA welcomes new members of all ability. For more information visit us on Facebook or Instagram for all the details.
