The long wait is over and Athlone GAA have resumed underage training.
There was a great response to the club’s first online session which took place on Sunday last for nursery (4-7 year olds ) and 8-12 year olds.
The club are providing further online training for the next two Sundays from 10am -10.20am for nursery participants and from 10.30-10.50am for 8-12 year olds.
The plan is a return to pitch training on Sunday, May 2, in line with Covid-19 guidelines. The club’s U13-U18s cohort are currently taking part in online training sessions offered by Westmeath GAA coaching staff and will be returning to pitch training after April 26.
New members (boys and girls aged four and over ) are always welcome and especially now as the new season commences.
Contact Joe on 0868846731 if you would like to join or if you have any questions regarding training.
The emphasis is very much on fitness, friendship and FUN! Physical fitness, co-ordination, social skills and resilience are just some of the many skills which will be developed by participation in gaelic football.
The training is very much child-focussed with the main emphasis on participation rather than winning.
Apart from being one of our national sports gaelic football is growing rapidly throughout the globe with competitions all across Europe, the US and Asia.
Why not ‘give gaelic a go’ with Athlone GAA club, located off the Ballymahon Road near the Regional Sports Centre.
