The allocation of €30,000 for safety improvement works on the Old Tuam Road has been welcomed by local Fine Gael Councillor John Naughten.
“This has been an ongoing issue for residents in the area that I have raised on a number of occasions,” Cllr Naughten said.
“While Roscommon County Council has made significant investment in upgrading the road infrastructure such as footpaths and lighting and reducing the road width there is still a problem with the issue of speeding traffic.
“It is hoped that this additional funding will go some way to addressing speed issues that continue to occur on this road by slowing traffic and improving safety for local residents and road users,” he added.
