Local gardai issue fines to students in attendance at house party

Local Gardai were called to the scene of a house party in Willow Park in the early hours of Sunday morning last.

Speaking to the Athlone Advertiser this week, Sergeant Andrew Haran, confirmed that fines of €100 were issued to 15 students who were in attendance at the scene.

“Unfortunately, local Gardai were called to the scene of a house party in Willow Park at 2am on Sunday last where 15 Covid-19 related fines were issued to those present. Investigations are currently ongoing as we aim to seek out the individual or individuals who organised the party and such persons maybe subject to a heavier fine,” Sergeant Haran said.

Meanwhile, Sergeant Haran stated that local Gardai attended the scene of a physical altercation at Marine View on Thursday of last week.

“Gardai were called to the scene of a physical altercation at the Marine View estate on Thursday last. Two males and one female had received injuries with one male taken to hospital where he received treatment and was later relaeased.

“A male in his 20s was arrestedand charged and will appear before a local court sitting at a later date,” Sergeant Haran concluded.
