Hayfever management

The summer months are fast approaching and for many thousands of people this signals the return of hayfever season. Hayfever, also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis, is a common condition that affects approximately one in five people and arises from an allergy to airborne substances such as grass or hay pollen.

This allergic reaction results in typical symptoms such as runny nose, congestion, sneezing, itchy and watery eyes. From May to July, grass and flowers are in pollen, making these the most common causes of hayfever at this time.

The healthcare staff at Boots in the Golden Island shopping centre in Athlone recognise the increasing prevalence of hayfever among the public and the importance of providing good advice and information to patients on the successful management of the condition.

Boots are having a special hayfever event the weekend of May 8, 9 and 10, when the pharmacy team will be providing expert advice to hayfever sufferers regarding treatment and prevention. So come and see us instore where we will be available to answer all your queries.

A free ‘Hayfever Survival Pack’ will be given to customers with each purchase of hayfever medication.
