This May, Roscommon Arts Centre’s InsideOut programme gets under way, as events that normally take place inside the arts centre move outside to venues around Roscommon town and county. The arts centre has also programmed two wonderful family shows to cater for all ages over the next few weeks.
The first of these is Pignut Production’s Ahhhh! especially for the very young and their carers. Would you love to enjoy a beautiful morning of children's theatre with your child? Do you work in a preschool, or are you a parent or part of a group of parents who would like to savour a magical experience with your little one?
Then Ahhhh! taking place at Cruachán Aí Heritage Centre, Tulsk on Saturday May 9 at 11.30am and 1.30pm will be just up your street. Galway-based Pignut Productions is a children's theatre company which creates original performances using physical theatre, clowning and puppetry, loved by children and adults alike. This is a gorgeous performance layered with many ideas lovingly woven together to create moments of beauty and magic and one big contented sigh of Ahhhhh!! Suitable for ages 18 months - four years. The first performance is almost fully booked so it’s advised to contact Roscommon Arts Centre to pre-book your seats.
Aesop's Fabulous Foibles and Fables, in Kilteevan Community Centre on Saturday May 30, takes the old stories that we all know and love like ‘The Tortoise and The Hare’ and ‘The Boy Who Cried Wolf’ and transforms them for the modern audience.
This troupe enjoyed a fantastic reaction to their show in Cork last summer and this is a perfect opportunity to pull the children away from Saturday morning tv and treat them to a live production. Aesop's Fabulous Foibles and Fables was an instant hit and had everyone laughing non-stop, with parents leaving the theatre telling ushers that it was the best hour of entertainment they'd had with their children in ages. A great opportunity to get all the family together for an hour of fun. Suitable for ages 4 +.
