According to Age Action half of Irish people aged between 65 and 74 have never used the internet.
This statistic, in combination with high numbers of older adults living alone and the rise in isolation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, has increased the need for the use of technology to keep in touch with those we love.
Therefore, Generation Tech has identified a need for technological support for older people in Ireland.
The company supplies a free service via phone or email to help you navigate technology and software, available Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm. The service is entirely free and clients will be called back if needed.
Their volunteers are experts and help with any technology related issues - using printers, setting up zoom or other video call services, wi-fi routers or resetting email passwords.
Volunteers are patient and compassionate and have received numerous positive reviews from happy clients. Calls can last up to an hour, however if the problem takes longer than this to resolve, volunteers will call you back again to ensure the issue is resolved.
Generation Tech is a remote charity that has a dedicated team of volunteers from all around Ireland. All services are provided on a voluntary basis and the software used, including Zendesk and Microsoft Office, has been donated to the company.
It is important that Ireland’s older population is not forgotten about in this challenging time. Generation Tech are not just answering phone calls, they are changing lives by connecting individuals across the nation.
If you or someone you know would benefit from this service, you can call 01-9633288 or email [email protected] for further information.
