Having relocated to the west of Ireland to commence her working career, Laura Martin (25 ) is striving to secure a place in this year’s Miss Ireland final.
Marrying her profession as a Marketing and Design Manager for Sweeney Oil with her ongoing part-time studies to achieve a degree and Masters in Computer Science, Laura is a youth mentor in Mayo with Foroige’s Big Brother Big Sister programme, the internationally recognised youth mentoring initiative which helps to form supportive friendships for young people inspiring them to brighter futures.
Laura has successfully hosted several fundraising events in the past number of years, with in excess of €1,700 garnered for the Pieta House in March 2020 following the cancellation of the charity’s ‘Darkness Into Light’ annual initiative as the Miss Ireland final aspirant completed a 30km run around Castlebar to raise continued awareness and funds.
Laura has also collected, through her fundraising initiatives, in excess of 800 new toys for Airc Mayo, an organisation for children with disabilities, with a sum of €800 being further raised for the ISPCC when she hosted a sleep out event.
Laura uses her social media to help raise and promote awareness relating to mental health and education issues and also runs a free service to assist individuals compose CVs as they strive to obtain interviews and a career.
