With the ethos of club progression very much to the fore, Athlone GAA have formally launched their five year strategic plan, ‘2020 Vision’.

During 2020, the club’s Strategic Plan Steering Committee received numerous club member views, co-ordinated relevant intensive research and liaised with the GAA and Leinster Council to put a plan in place which will enable Athlone GAA to advance both on and off the playing field.

The club’s open survey, which had over 300 responses, indicated that Athlone GAA is doing well, but also detailed specific areas in which the the club can develop and enhance in the coming years.

This very detailed and ambitious plan is intended to serve as a roadmap for the club over the next five years and also for future administrators of Athlone GAA.

Particular emphasis has been placed upon ‘grass roots’/underage coaching and games development and the promotion of girls and ladies football.

By having the very best structures and coaching in place at underage and creating clear player pathways through the ranks, the club believes they can create an environment which will ensure future sustained success at all levels.

This is an extremely exciting time for Athlone GAA and this plan represents an ideal opportunity for people who share the club’s ambition to get involved in a very exciting project over the next number of years.

If you can offer anything, no matter how small, across a number of sectors, namely, coaching and games, finance and fundraising, promotion of the Irish language and culture (i.e. Scór ), social (organisation of walking group, Operation Transformation, organisation of family days/parents’ evenings etc. ), public relations and Social media, the club wish that you contact them through their numerous social media channels.
