Independent Councillor, Jamie Moran, has welcomed the construction of a footpath from Valleycourt housing estate culminating at Pat Redington’s business premises on the approach road to the centre of Athlone.
“I would like to welcome the construction and extension of this footpath from Valleycourt housing estate to Pat Redington’s business.
“This is great news for walkers in the locality who now can avail of footpaths on either side of the Bonavalley bridge as they approach the centre of Athlone, making the route safer for use.
“I would like to thank Westmeath County Council area engineer, Pat Nally for his assistance on this matter. Those residing in this particular area are delighted with this footpath construction as they have been campaigning for such a construction for quite some time,” Cllr Moran remarked.
